SY 2011-2012 School-Based Child Nutrition Programs
Household Eligibility Applications
Per USDA regulations household applications cannot be distributed to households any earlier than 4 weeks prior to the first day of school. Additionally, it is recommended that schools first access the Electronic Direct Certification system in order to determine households that do not need to receive household applications. By determining households that are eligible for free meals through the Electronic Direct Certification system, a school would only need to provide household application packets to those households not found in that system. This can cut down on the cost of printing, mailing and personnel time in processing applications for those that are already certified via the Electronic Direct Certification system. Please access the Electronic Direct Certification system webpage for more information.
