Reader Scripts for MathematicsIf your district has not received reader scripts for math, please be advised that there may be items that could be compromised by not using a reader script. For example, look at the following mathematics assessment objectives for grade 3 and 4: 6.3.02 Identify and write (in words and standard form) whole numbers up to 100,000. 6.4.02 Identify and write (in words and standard form) whole numbers up to 1,000,000. These objectives could be measured by an item that requires a student to identify in words a number written in standard form. If a teacher reads the standard form of the number in a question in words instead of digit by digit, this could give away the answer. Illinois State Board of Education |
