Field Test Double Testing Waiver
We are happy to announce that Illinois has been granted our request for a one-year waiver to allow the selected schools field testing full forms of field tests in the Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers (PARCC) and Dynamic Learning Maps (DLM) to use those assessments in place of the state assessments for the content areas in which they are being given.
For the PARCC assessment, a full form is defined as participation in both the Performance Based Assessment (PBA) and the End of Year Assessment (EOY) in one content area. For the content area in which these components are administered, the eligible student does not have to participate in that content area on the ISAT. Schools are still responsible for student participation in all other ISAT content areas assessed at a grade level.
While parents may opt their students out of the PARCC field test, it is important that parents with students in classrooms eligible for the double testing waiver inform their school districts of their desire to opt their students out of PARCC testing prior to the ISAT testing administration window opening. This is necessary so that these students may complete all ISAT content areas and fulfill the state and federal testing requirements. Schools are responsible for ensuring that all students participate in either the full ISAT test in all content areas or the full PARCC assessment in any content area that they do not participate in during the ISAT.
For the DLM assessment, a full form is defined as participation in all three testing windows. During the recruitment process for field testing, parents informed districts as to their desire to have their students participate. Schools are responsible for ensuring that all students participate in either the full DLM test in those content areas being tested or in the full IAA test for content areas not being field tested by the DLM.
Please find the letter from the United States Department of Education attached. If you have further questions, please contact Dan Frederking (PARCC field test) or Jessica Dare (DLM field test) in the Division of Student Assessment.
