English Language Learning
The Division provides leadership, advocacy and support to districts, policymakers and citizens by promoting equitable access to language support services for students from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds who have been identified as English Language Learners. These services will assist them to become lifelong learners, able to contribute to and function in a multicultural and globally competitive world.

- Regional Institute Series continues in April and May
A series of two-day Regional Institutes for ELL Practitioners featuring presenters from the Illinois Resource Center (IRC) and World Class Instructional Design & Assessment (WIDA) are being presented by ISBE Division of English Language Learning. The Institutes are research-based and designed to support programs which enhance ELL academic performance and English language acquisition. The Institutes are located in various sites in Illinois and there is no charge to attend. Participants may register to attend either one or both days; and CPDUs will be provided through the IRC.
