ISBE DELL e-Broadcast 2007.63: Call for Papers: 2007 Refugee and Immigrant Conference

ANNOUNCING THE 2007 REFUGEE AND IMMIGRANT CONFERENCE
The 2007 Refugee and Immigrant Conference will be held in Chicago on October 22-23, 2007 at the Holiday Inn Chicago-Mart Plaza. This conference brings together PreK-12 educators, government agencies, refugee social service agencies and universities from Illinois and across the country.

A Call for Workshops Sessions has been issued which includes the following educational issues:

• providing early intervention in serving refugee children in Pre-K programs;
• educating teenage refugee students without any prior school experience or with broken schooling;
• developing dialogues among teachers of refugee students;
• best practices for integrating refugee children and their families into the American school system;and
• encouraging high school refugee student participation in career exploration and post-secondary education.
