(Content and Language Integration as a Means of Bridging Success) Course
REGISTRATION DEADLINE HAS BEEN EXTENDED TO SEPTEMBER 30, 2011
No prior training in teaching ELLs is necessary!
The workshop series objectives are:
- To build understanding of the integration of content and WIDA English language proficiency (ELP) standards in classroom instruction
- To apply research and best practices to a model of sheltered or scaffolded instruction for ELLs
- To use summative and formative assessment to inform instruction
- To share best practices among ESL, bilingual and general educators through face-to-face and online collaboration
NOTE: This course takes place over five full-day face-to-face sessions over six months. Participants will interact through online discussions and homework assignments between face-to-face sessions.
TARGET AUDIENCE:
TEAMS OF EDUCATORS FROM THE SAME SCHOOL. TEAMS SHOULD CONSIST OF 3 TO 5 PARTICIPANTS (ONE ESL/BILINGUAL TEACHER, ONE ADMINISTRATOR, AND AT LEAST ONE GENERAL EDUCATION/CONTENT TEACHER, SPECIAL EDUCATION TEACHER, CURRICULUM COACH, LEARNING COORDINATOR, LITERACY SPECIALIST, ETC.) EACH WORKSHOP SERIES IS LIMITED TO 25 PARTICIPANTS.
