ISBE DELL e-Broadcast Special Edition Newsletter 2014.252 - Illinois TESOL-BE Convention: An Invitation for Districts Not Meeting Annual Measurable Achievement Objectives for At Least Two Years

This special edition DELL e-Broadcast Newsletter will focus on comprehensive planning for districts not making Annual Measurable Achievement Objectives (AMAOs) for two years.  If this accountability measure applies to your district, please take a few minutes to review the information below.

Comprehensive Planning

The Division of English Language Learning is collaborating with Illinois TESOL-BE (ITBE) to offer districts the opportunity to send staff including teachers of EL and Bilingual students or other professional school staff who work directly with EL and Bilingual students to the conference with expenses paid. Districts that have not met AMAOs for at least two years will be given priority for this opportunity.

The 40th ITBE Annual Convention: “Milestones in Learning: ITBE 40 Years On” will be held on February 28-March 1, 2014 at the Sheraton Lisle Hotel (3000 Warrenville Road Lisle, IL 60532). This conference provides teachers of ELL and Bilingual students the chance to meet with their colleagues from across Illinois and the country. It gives them the ability to discuss issues of common concerns and identify best practices for serving these students.

Expenses to be covered include conference registration as well as some hotel and dinner costs for those staying overnight and traveling more than 50 miles one-way to attend the conference.  For more information, see the attached registration form and letter about the conference.

To apply for this support, please return the attached form electronically by Friday, February 21, 2014 to:
