Student Transportation Program (School Bus Driver Training)
This program administers activities and provides services in the following areas:
- student transportation operations;
- provides training and certification of school bus driver instructors;
- develops and provides Illinois School Bus Driver Training Curriculum for school bus drivers;
- facilitates federal, state laws, and State Board of Education rules and regulations related to student transportation;
- development of an Administrator's Manual and accompanying materials on pupil transportation safety, laws and rules and regulations;
- works with the school bus industry to communicate best practices in student transportation;
- provides direction and evaluation tools to determine school bus route hazards;
- works with other federal and state agencies to provide safe student transportation and safe bus riding practices;
- developed a special needs transportation resource document and infant, toddlers and preschool transportation resource document; and
- developed a student transportation resource library for school district administrator/transportation director.
