Stage A - Foreign Language
Foreign Languages Classroom Assessments Aligned to the Illinois Learning Standards
The assessments are coded according to standard and stage. Example: 28A.A is aligned to standard 28A, stage A (first year of foreign language study). Sample student work, when available, will follow the assessment.
Indicate whether forms of address in verbal exchanges in the target language are formal or informal.
Give an appropriate verbal response to each spoken statement or question in a role-playing interaction.
Match phrases or sentences to pictures and listen to sentences read in the target language and match them to the printed versions of those sentences.
Draw a family tree using the target language.
Match sentences read by the teacher to pictures.
Sing a childrens song about a famous figure in the target language.
Demonstrate understanding of types of media.
Identify items associated with a country.
On a world map, identify the country of origin of the target language and other countries and areas where the target language is one of the principal languages.
Demonstrate understanding of simple geometric shapes and compare them by color and size.
Using the target language, identify basic occupations common to the target country(s) and native country.
