State Board of Education Acts on Watch
and Warning Lists
Also votes approval of various NCLB items
The Illinois State Board of Education took
final action today on several items that were discussed and
debated yesterday on the first day of the board’s regular
monthly 2-day meeting.
News releases issued yesterday that detail the
issues can be accessed at the ISBE web site, http://www.isbe.net.
At today’s meeting the board took the following
action:
Approved both the Academic Early Warning List
and the Academic Watch List on separate 7-0 votes.
Approved the list of qualified providers of
Supplemental Educational Services under the federal No Child
Left Behind law.
Approved recommendations of the Accountability
and Assessment Task Force regarding annual testing. Some of
these recommendations require legislative approval.
Approved creation of a Financial Oversight Panel
for Livingston District 4 (Madison County).
Returned to the Accountability and Assessment
Task Force its recommendations regarding Adequate Yearly progress
and directed the Task Force to report to the Board at its
January meeting.
Approved recommendations of the Accountability
and Assessment Task Force regarding the Illinois Alternative
Assessment.
