“Choice” Media Availability
ISBE will have the Director of Planning and Policy, Lynne
Haeffele Curry, available to answer questions detailing how
school districts who received an “early alert” letter
in July were placed on a preliminary list to receive this
courtesy notice about their schools. The list, which is based
on preliminary data, alerted districts that these schools
may have to offer “Choice” under the No Child Left
Behind provisions.
Haeffele will answer questions about Adequate Yearly Progress
(AYP), Choice, and criteria for Academic Warning List (AWL).
The list of schools and the letter that went out will be
posted Thursday morning on the ISBE website at www.isbe.net.
