Illinois State Board of Education Employee
Named Illinois Principal of the Year
Springfield, Ill. The Illinois Principals
Association (IPA) today named Becky McCabe as the National
Distinguished Principal of the Year in Illinois. McCabe
is currently on leave from Leal Elementary School in Urbana
to lead Student Assessment at the Illinois State Board
of Education.
We are proud and honored to have Beckys expertise
and commitment at the State Board, said Interim
State Superintendent Randy Dunn. Over the last month,
Ive relied on Beckys judgment and strong connections
with principals around the state to rebuild the agencys
relationships with schools. We congratulate her on being
named Elementary Principal of the Year in Illinois and
join with IPA in recognizing her commitment and expertise.
We look forward to continuing to work with Becky in the
future to serve Illinois schools.
In Beckys current role at the State Board, she
is part of the leadership team working to correct School
Report Card data. In addition, she oversees the state
student assessment system, including the Illinois Standards
Achievement Test (ISAT), Prairie State Achievement Examination
(PSAE), the Illinois Measure of Annual Growth in English
(IMAGE), the Illinois Consumer Education Proficiency Test
(ICEPT), the Illinois Alternate Assessment (IAA); and
coordinates Illinois participation in the National
Assessment of Education Progress (NAEP).
