ISBE Opens School Report Card Window Early In Response
to Local Requests
Toll-Free Hotline and Online Access Activated
Springfield, Ill. Dr. Randy Dunn, Interim Superintendent,
Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE), has announced
that in response to positive feedback from local school
districts, ISBE has moved up the timeframe for Illinois
school districts to review and reconcile discrepancies
in their School Report Card data. To quickly meet school
requests for access to the data, the open review period
begins today, September 29, one day in advance of the
planned date of September 30.
The importance of the accuracy of School Report Card
data is critical to schools as a measure of performance
against the federal No Child Left Behind requirements.
In talking with many Illinois schools over the
past 48 hours, theyve told us that they are anxious
to get to work on their data as soon as possible,
said Dr. Dunn. The staff has worked hard to set
up a toll-free hotline and develop online resources for
schools. Because weve worked to respond quickly
to what the schools are telling us they need, weve
been able to move up the beginning of the review period
by a full day. Governor Blagojevich has clearly stated
the importance of improved service and support to schools
in Illinois and this initiative is just one example of
the new way in which the State Board will do that.
Staff and technology resources are now in place for school
support for the open data review period. ISBE Assessment
Division and Data Analysis and Progress Division Calls
are staffing the newly established toll-free hotline,
866-317-6034. Online resources for data review are available
for school districts at http://www.isbe.net/assessment/pdfQuickRef.htm.
