Iroquois West Community Unit School District 10 makes Adequate Yearly Progress for 2002-2003
State Board of Education announces results of district’s appeal

Springfield, Ill. –The Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) has announced that Iroquois West Community Unit School District 10 in Gilman made Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) in 2002-2003, meeting all the assessment and accountability requirements under the federal No Child Left Behind law. Iroquois West Community Unit School District 10 was initially labeled as not making AYP in ISBE’s December 2004 announcement of Illinois’ 2002-2003 district and school results.

Upon the district’s appeal and ISBE staff’s review of the district’s data, discrepancies in Iroquois West Community Unit School District 10 data were corrected. After these corrections, ISBE has found that the district made AYP in 2002-2003.

The district’s successful appeal is extremely important, as AYP is the critical measure of success under the federal No Child Left Behind law.
