Springfield, Ill. - The Illinois Troops to Teachers Program,
a federally funded program designed to assist former military
personnel who are looking to begin a second career in
education, is now featured prominently on the Illinois
State Board of Education website.
The Illinois State Board of Education and the Illinois
Troops to Teachers program are working together to place
experienced motivated personnel in Illinois classrooms.
Information about the Illinois Troops to Teachers program
is now available on the Illinois State Board of Education
website, www.isbe.net.
The website features upcoming activities and events as
well as informational resources for those interested in
the program.
"The Illinois State Board of Education recognizes
that many of our former military personnel posses a wealth
of knowledge and experience which can prove beneficial
to the students of Illinois. The Illinois Troops to Teachers
program is committed to providing our retired veterans
with an opportunity to continue to positively impact their
communities by placing them classrooms throughout the
state," said Illinois Troops to Teachers administrator
Greg Davenport.
"We know that many former military personnel have
much to offer and many can do so through classrooms here
in Illinois," Davenport added. "We hope that
by reaching out to them through the website we can see
this partnership continue to grow and prosper."
In addition, the Illinois State Board of Education salutes
all our fighting men and women, both past and present
as our nation observes Veterans Day on Friday, Nov. 11,
