Education Funding Advisory Board to Hold Initial
Meeting August 13, 2009
Chicago, Ill. – The first Fiscal Year 2010 meeting of the state’s Education Funding Advisory Board will be held at 1 p.m. August 13 at the James R. Thompson Center.
The Education Funding Advisory (EFAB) Board makes recommendations to the General Assembly on funding levels for school districts with a high volume of children at or below the poverty level.
In May, Governor Pat Quinn named five members to the advisory board. They are: Sylvia Puente, Board Chair and the Executive Director of the Latino Policy Forum; Dean Clark, a former board member of ISBE and EFAB as well as the National Association of State Boards of Education, Arthur Culver, Superintendent of Champaign Unit 4 School District, Ed Geppert, Jr., President of the Illinois Federation of Teachers and Ken Swanson, President of the Illinois Education Association.
This State Board of Education meeting will be accessible to persons with disabilities.
