SY 2012-2013 School-Based Child Nutrition Programs
Household Eligibility Applications
Per USDA regulations household applications cannot be distributed to households any earlier than 4 weeks prior to the first day of school. Additionally, schools are required to use the Electronic Direct Certification system in order to determine households that receive SNAP/TANF benefits and are automatically eligible for free meals. By determining households that are eligible for free meals through the Electronic Direct Certification system, a school would only need to provide household application packets to those households not found in that system. Please access the Electronic Direct Certification system webpage for more information.
