The Application for Recognition of Schools
The Application for Recognition of Schools (ARS) on the Illinois State Board of Education’s IWAS application replaces paper forms with a web-based application, which provides ROE’s, district, and school administrators with these capabilities:
- Electronic Access to the Application for Recognition of Schools
- Timely Submission of the Data to ISBE
- Elimination of Paper Applications
Customarily each public school district is required to submit the ARS electronically to their respective Regional Office of Education by the close of business on September 30th.
In the case of Chicago Public Schools (CPS), each public school is customarily required to submit the ARS electronically to the CPS Office of Education Policy and Procedures by the close of business on September 30th.
The Regional Offices of Education and the CPS Office of Education Policy and Procedures have customarily been required to electronically transmit the ARS to the Illinois State Board of Education by the close of business on October 15th. Due to the unanticipated delay in availability of this year's Application for Recognition of Schools, the customary deadlines for submission are being adjusted to allow sufficient time to move the application through your board approval processes. Thus, for this year, the public school districts must submit the ARS electronically to their respective Regional Offices of Education not later than the close of business on October 30, 2012.
In the case of the Chicago Public Schools, each school is to submit the ARS electronically to the CPS Office of Education Policy and Procedure not later than the close of business on October 30, 2012. The Regional Offices of Education and the CPS Office of Education Policy and Procedures must then electronically transmit the ARS to the Illinois State Board of Education not later than the close of business on November 15, 2012.
