Technology Readiness Tool for PARCC Online Assessment
In preparation for the 2014-15 implementation of the Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers (PARCC) Online Assessment, PARCC states are using a Pearson created online inventory and readiness tool. The tool provides a location to store the school level technology inventory and then uses that inventory to generate school readiness information based on the number of students, available hardware, and the recommended testing timeframe needed within the testing window. All Illinois districts will be asked to provide various portions of this information from October 2012 until the start of the testing in 2014.
The Technology Readiness Tool can be found at https://www.techreadiness.net. Online training for the tool is provided at http://techreadiness.org/t/TRT_2013_02-14/launch.html.
PARCC’s website contains minimum guidelines for hardware purchases at http://parcconline.org/technology. Additional documentation as well as a FAQ concerning the guidelines are also found on that page. Districts in need of funding to purchase equipment might consider using the School Technology Revolving Loan Program. Information can be found at http://www.isbe.net/spec-ed/elearning/html/revolving_loan.htm.
